As expected, the fish arrived on time - both Cohos (silvers) and Chinooks (Kings) - and by early July the fishing was simply spectacular.

Huge schools of Coho salmon could be located throughout the vast kelp beds that line the shores at the entrance to Nootka Sound, and the Chinooks were there in big numbers too!

The beauty of this fishing is that the fish swim shallow, with the Chinooks traveling from 15 to 40 feet in depth with light tackle surface fishing being the method of choice for Coho.

It is nearly impossible to pick highlights from our 2003 fishing season, as it was simply adventure after adventure, story after story, from the beginning of our season till the end.

Not a single group of anglers - not one! - experienced slow fishing during our 2003 season, so we thought the best way to remember 2003 would be to let our guests - and their photos - do the talking!

There is no reason to believe that the 2004 fishing season won't be at least as good as 2002 and 2003, so let us know soon if you haven't yet booked your trip to Nootka Wilderness Lodge.
